Overview
The primary responsibility of this position is to proactively assist in increasing the funds received by The Rotary Foundation (TRF) of Rotary International. This position will support and assist the Foundation Services Supervisor in the overall development and implementation of fundraising strategies in the region, which will embrace all aspects of the fund development process. This position supports the volunteer structure and the Foundation Services Supervisor in identifying, cultivating, and soliciting individual prospects capable of giving outright and planned gifts of at least US$10,000. This position will also ensure continued implementation of Every Rotarian, Every Year (EREY) effort and support volunteer fund development activities, including the board of the TRF Associate Foundation ABTRF, within the geographic region served by the Brazil Office.
You Will Have
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) required. International Relations, Financial Sales / Marketing and/or accounting background preferred.
- Excellent communication skills (including listening) coupled with strong writing and very well-developed presentation skills.
- Two years of fund development experience with a large or international organization preferred. Experience living, working or studying in a multi-cultural environment desired.
- High level of interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with high-level donors and volunteers while advancing individual relationships resulting in philanthropic contributions.
- Must be able to manage multiple priorities and work under time constraints.

You Will Be Responsible For
- Assists the Foundation Services Supervisor in developing and maintaining a portfolio of key major and planned giving prospects with a capacity to make gifts of US$10,000 or more by maintaining frequent communication with prospects as part of a contact management system. Prepares and coordinates the presentation of major gift proposals to prospective donors.
- Averages 50 contacts (face-to-face, telephone, major gift proposals, etc.) per month with major gift donors and prospects.
- Gathers, records, and properly stores information about major gift prospects utilizing Raiser’s Edge as part of the contact management system.
- Assists in the design and implementation of a fund development plan for the Brazil Office geographic area that further enhances Every Rotarian, Every Year effort and the Foundation’s major and planned giving efforts. This plan includes specific strategies for donor acquisition, retention and upgrading opportunities with special emphases on recurring gifts, the Paul Harris Society, major gifts and Bequest Society commitments.
- Monitors the progress achieved in fund development activities by Rotary zones, districts and clubs. Verifies timely delivery of the various progress reports and club goal forms. Follows up and urges completion when one or more parties fail to report as expected. Recommends encouragement, follow up, or corrective action as necessary.
- Actively promotes and monitors the successful implementation of Paul Harris Societies in all districts.
- Develops and administers appropriate cultivation/stewardship events as needed.
- Assists with the development and distribution of regionally-specific donor appeals as appropriate.
- Provides timely and reliable information, including accurate statistical information, adequate audiovisuals and appropriate literature, to all parties participating in fund development efforts. Ensures appropriate material is requisitioned in advance, stored properly, and dispatched on time.
- Focuses support on senior Rotary leadership, including endowment major gift advisors, regional Rotary Foundation coordinators and assistant regional Rotary Foundation coordinators, the ABTRF Board (limited time commitment), as well as district volunteers located within the Brazil Office geographic area of responsibility.
- Supports and trains volunteer committees on fund development related matters at Rotary Institutes, district events and other Rotary meetings as assigned.
- Incorporates into all assigned duties a strong, thorough, and ongoing knowledge of the organization, including technical, programmatic and procedural functions within TRF as well as Rotary International.
- Maintains effective contact with the philanthropic community at large and prepares periodic reports on trends and developments with the potential to effect fund development activities, including important legal and governmental policies.
- Assists management in ensuring that all fund development activities are kept within the legal parameters and general directives of the countries in the Brazil Office geographical area of responsibility.
- Assists management in preparation of the items pertaining to fund development activities, including an assessment of needs for donor cultivation/solicitation trips, participation in Rotary events, support materials, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Some travel, including weekends, within assigned geographical territory is required. Occasional travel to Rotary World Headquarters in Evanston, Illinois, USA as assigned.
- Internal Contacts: All colleagues at the Brazil Office. WHQ TRF staff in Polio & Philanthropy (Donor Relations, Gift Administration, etc.), Planning and Administration (SHARE, RRFC, etc.), Programs, PolioPlus, Financial Services Staff (Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Budget and Planning, Corporate Reporting etc.) and Informational Services and WHQ Trustee Services.
- External Contacts: Endowment major gift advisors, regional Rotary Foundation coordinators, assistant regional Rotary Foundation coordinators, ABTRF Board, Rotary Foundation district committee officers, district governors, Rotary club presidents, Rotarians in the Brazil Office geographic area, regional and national authorities, and the general public.

- Computer competency with all Microsoft Windows software, database management and “Raiser’s Edge” software. Training will be provided on the job.
